The work examines the dynamics between cis and heterosexual women and lesbians. According to the artist, lesbianism is still belittled and not taken seriously. Heterosexual women go out with lesbians just for fun or to have a boyfriend because lesbianism is considered attractive or exciting by heterosexual men. Two women going out together is considered a passing flirtation and not really serious.
'Pretty Girls', which shows two very feminine women kissing, denounces the fact that they present themselves in a more feminine light and that it is even more difficult to be taken seriously by heterosexual women. This way of thinking is centred on the male, heterosexual gaze and reflects a kind of internalised misogyny.
