"The wildest dreams of my ancestors" is about the active pursuit of pleasure and the fact that we all deserve it. The work explores acts of choosing pleasure over pain, acts of shameless love and articulates the artistic. Eroticism and tenderness are rooted in the mandate to be brown, queer and radical and how we navigate pleasure. The face of the central character refers to the goddess Kali. In Hinduism, Kali is the goddess of preservation, transformation and destruction. Those who worship her are freed from the fear of destruction. She destroys evil in all its forms. By wearing the face of the goddess Kali, the character is transformed, regaining power over their person, their body and their sexuality.
