This vase is inspired by the arctic Greenland hare. The Arctic hare (Lepus arcticus) -Ukaluu in inuit language - is a small, fur-covered mammal adapted to a cold environment (polar or high mountain). The hare is adapted to the climatic conditions of the Great North, both by its morphology and by its thick white winter fur and behaviour. It lives mainly in the tundra areas of Greenland and in the northernmost parts of Canada and Alaska. In the extreme north the hare turns white during the winter, which allows it to blend in with the snow. In summer, its body and head turn grey-brown again, allowing it to blend in with the mud and rocks, although its legs remain white.
Siqou's works are dyed with natural pigments that resemble the winter colors of Greenland animals. She glues them one by one by hand from one direction to the other in order to have a flow and a harmony in the texture.
